stop adani boonah on the march

A great turnout to last Thursday night’s Guarding the Galilee movie at the Boonah Cultural Centre, has fired up locals with their desire to stop the Adani coalmine.

Alison Green, a new Boonah resident who organised the event said, “I’m thrilled with the passion of Boonah people with more than fifty coming along to the screening and discussion.”

Adani is a multi-billion-dollar mining giant that wants to build the biggest coal mine in Australia’s history in Central Queensland’s Galilee Basin. If this mine goes ahead it would open up a coal resource that, if burned, would double Australia’s carbon emissions.

Alison said, “We’ve already had a follow up meeting with plans for future local action.”

“Next event is the School Strike 4 Climate which is happening on Friday at 1pm in Brisbane. This will be one of the largest global actions with almost 100 countries participating, and around 1,000 events worldwide.”

“Led by students, we’re proud to support their actions. And it’s not just for students. Everyone is invited - young or old - to stand with them and demand climate justice.”

Anyone interested in joining the Boonah contingent on Friday is welcome to get in touch.
