world environment day festival 2019

Save the date for this year's World Environment Day Festival.

It’s happening on Saturday 20 July at the Outlook, Boonah and will again showcase a huge array of exhibitors, workshops, displays, demonstrations, art and performances to celebrate and inspire sustainable communities.

Hosted by the Boonah Organisation for a Sustainable Shire (BOSS), Secretary Julie Jackson explains the global theme for this year’s celebrations is about air pollution.

“It’s about encouraging governments, industry, communities, and individuals to come together to explore renewable energy and green technologies, and improve air quality in cities and regions across the world.”

“Our event always aims to be single use plastic free, and also coincides with the growing Plastic Free July campaign.”

The event attracts many with a focus on sustainability and organisers are keen to hear from people who would like to participate.

“World Environment Day is all about providing people with information through demonstrations and practical application of how to make sustainable changes to their lives. It’s about sharing ideas, old and new, so if you would like to participate on the day as a stall holder, workshop presenter, demonstrator or volunteer, please contact us,” says Julie.

“We have a clear focus on best environmental practice, and an alignment to ecological or social sustainability is essential.”

An exciting program is already being planned with some very topical discussions on the transition to renewable energy and electric vehicles, some great creative workshops and free trees.
