thursday night creatives

every thursday night, our creative group meets for two hours between 6pm and 8pm.

the thursday night creatives have been getting together since 2016, sewing bunting, screen printing tshirts and painting signs.

since then individual projects and skill sharing have been pursued with activities like weaving, rug making, knitting, crochet, bees wax wraps, twining and more going on.

we've done community projects, such as making 1,000 flowers crafted from old tshirts to create a tree jumper as an entry to the warwick jumpers and jazz festival, and the table decorations for the boonah long table event.

we're always making shopping and produce bags, and eco dish cloths, and would love people to get involved. we're happy to provide fabric and we have a pattern for our shopping bag.

we meet at the CWA hall in walter street, and everyone's welcome, it's $3 to cover venue hire, and feel free to bring a plate to share.

last year we finished weaving 35 rugs for the reclaim the void project and we look forward to seeing the final enormous 40m x 40m textile dot painting.

we are now working with julie paterson's collaborative menindee memorial loop project. it's another craftism project raising awareness of the millions of fish deaths in the menindee lakes on the darling river.

the project involves stitching 100 random cross stitches on a postcard sized piece of cotton fabric. the final artwork will contain 1,000,000 cross stitches representing 1,000,000 fish.

everyone's welcome to participate, and we can provide all materials.

if you want to know more, just send an email, or phone Julie on 0435 992 798.
