international day of the forests
together with boonah and district landcare, we'll be celebrating international day of the forests with a morning at the fassifern reserve on saturday 23 march between 8am and 10am.
back in 2011, we planted 2000 trees with the help of a federal grant from the department of environment and support from the scenic rim regional council.
a community day saw 100 trees planted to kickstart the project. more photos from this great day are on facebook.
these trees were planted to provide a better environment for our local animal and bird species. they've done well, and it's time we went back to check out how they're going.
we'll walk amongst the site, identifying trees, shrubs and the under-story layer of plants, look for birds and animals, hopefully spotting a koala or two, and learn how to manage weeds.
everyone is welcome, and RSVPs would be helpful so we can estimate numbers for morning tea.
please wear closed in shoes, a hat, and bring a water bottle.
BYO chair, plate and cup would be helpful.
the fassifern reserve is the picnic area on the cunningham highway near the intersection with the boonah fassifern road.
