SORT is a not-for-profit social enterprise that aims to enhance recycling while also creating new jobs for disadvantaged job-seekers.
they work on-the-ground in remote, regional and urban communities around Australia and have recently started in Boonah.
over the next six months, SORT Boonah aims to refurbish 100 Computers for local kids. SORT job seekers canvas donations of computers, learn how to check and disassemble computers before reviewing and refurbishing the computer to strict Microsoft Refurbisher standards.
SORT works with major national welfare agencies to co-ordinate the distribution of the ‘Computers for Boonah and District Kids.’
it’s expected that another 200 or so computers will be dismantled into parts for reuse or further recycling.
everyone is invited to contribute to the success of this venture by donating any surplus computers and related equipment, such as cables, keyboards, monitors, mice etc.
SORT is located in the basement at 9 Church Street, Boonah. for larger donations, they are happy to discuss suitable collection arrangements and can even provide a Certificate of Security for the destruction of any data on computer and printer hard drives at a small fee, if required.
contact them via phone on 5463 1515 email boonah@sort.org.au or find them on facebook.
